Local Market, Monasteries Today marks the first day of you Stok Kangri peak trekking expedition, Upon your arrival in Leh, get settle down and spend the day getting acclimatized with the climate. Also, you can visit the local markets or explore the nearby monasteries or just simply relax for the day; overnight stay in Leh.
The first half of the day will be spent getting acclimatized to the weather in Leh. Hereafter, you will be taking up a short hike in order to get used to the terrain and altitude; this hike will allow you stunning views Stok Kangri, the highest mountain in the Stok Himalayas.
12km/8 Hours Trek, Higher Altitude Today morning, you will be beginning with the trek from Leh to Zingchan, and then to Rumbuk. While the first part of the trek will be a gradual one, the latter part will be steeper and you will be gaining altitude; overnight stay will be in Stok La.
From around 4,000ft, today you will be hiking to 4,900ft while trekking from Rumbak to Mankorm. On your way, you will be trailing through the scenic Stok La Pass that offers spectacular views of the Stok Kangri; overnight stay in tents.
Wake up early and start the journey to the base camp, where you will halt for the night. Post lunch; in the camp, embark on a short 100m climb around the campsite to get acclimatised with the climate.
Get an early start to the trekking expedition as the weather conditions are expected to be favourable at this time! The first task is to climb onto a ridge and then a large glacier. The last leg of the trek is quite daunting as it involves climbing to the summit of Stok Kangri. All your efforts till here will be rewarded with astounding views of the Karakoram Range, K2 (8,611m) and the distant Tibetan Zanskar as well.
This day will be treated as a buffer day in case the weather conditions do not permit trekking. You can use this day to explore the region on your own, but only after consulting with the trek leader.
Today morning, start trekking back to the Stok village. Along the way, enjoy the scenic views all around and also visit some of the ruins of ancient forts and castles. Arriving in the hamlet, take a short drive to Leh for an overnight stay.
On the last day of the tour, check-out from the Leh hotel and proceed towards you respective destinations - Delhi/Mumbai/Pune your Stok Kangri peak trekking expedition come to an end.
